Filed under Companion AnimalsNov 19Let me tell you about our best friend (of the four-legged type). Her name is Scamper, and she is a ten-year old Golden Retriever. My husband Jack and I just adore her!She loves tennis balls, and anybody who will throw the tennis ball. You better not be in her way when she is running after a tennis ball because you will be quickly pushed out of the way! She also has learned another use for a tennis ball. She discovered that if you bark with a tennis ball in your mouth, the bark is deeper and sounds more threatening. If she is out on our deck and sees something that needs special attention, she will run into the house, grab a tennis ball in her mouth, and go outside and bark. She really does sound like a much bigger and meaner dog.Her obsession with chasing a tennis ball is what got her into trouble. One day we were out in our front yard playing “chase the tennis ball”. Running at her usual top speed, she twisted her back left leg and came limping back with the ball in her mouth. We later found out from the vet that she had seriously injured her ACL and would have to have surgery to repair the damage. After the surgery we were told that she would have to be on Cosequin for the rest of her life. It helped, but she still had trouble going up and down stairs and getting back up after lying down.
I heard about the positive effects that Lubrisyn had on these types of problems, so I decided to try giving her Lubrisyn on a daily basis. One day we were coming home from a walk. In the past when we would reach the steps to our front porch, I would go up them slowly in case Scamper needed help. I looked back to see if she needed help, but realized that she had already climbed the steps and was waiting for me on the porch. The only thing that I had changed in her daily routine was that I had started giving her Lubrisyn. It had to have been Lubrisyn that allowed Scamper to climb the stairs the first time without experiencing any hesitation and pain!
Scamper is doing great. She is still chasing the tennis ball every chance she gets. She is able to do things she did before the operation. I guess you could say she has “more spring in her step”! The one thing that I am sure of is that Scamper will be a “Lubrisyn dog” for the rest of her life.

There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you made some good points in Features also.
